¡Bienvenidos!

8th grade Spanish is a year long course that will continue to build students foundations in speaking, reading, listening and writing and prepare them for the complexities of Spanish classes at the high school level.  To receive this credit, they must pass an End Of Course Exam at the end of the second semester.

We will follow the scope and sequence of the Realidades textbook, provided by the school.   In addition students can access the website https://www.spanishspanish.com/ using the username: fernandeznataliax and the password: practica to access activities aligned with the textbooks and assessments for student study time. 

 

As a general rule, students need to engage in intensive Spanish study to be successful this semester and be prepared for Spanish 2.  Students will also use https://flipgrid.com/ to record oral tasks for evaluation and create a https://www.duolingo.com/  account, the classroom code is WNCFUT

This includes, but is not limited to: unit assessments, bellwork, exit tickets, quizzes, binder checks, and classwork.

SUMMATIVE

This includes, but is not limited to: bi-unit assessments, projects, presentations,  and the semester exam.

EMPLOYABILITY

This includes, but is not limited to class DOJO points, homework and task completion.

Authentic Language Exchanges

8th graders at Sky Academy will participate in a non-native speaker Spanish as a foregn language exchange with students from students from the Baltic Island of Rügen CJD Christophprus School.

UNIT 0: Let’s begin Para empezar

  • At the school En la escuela: greetings, introductions, leave-takings, numbers, time, body parts.

  • At the class En la clase: classroom, date, asking for help.

  • The weather El tiempo: weather, seasons.

Vocabulary: activities and expressions for saying what you like and don’t like to do.
Grammar: infinitives; making negative statements.

Vocabulary: foods; beverages; adverbs of frequency; expressions to show surprise. Grammar: present tense of –er and –ir verbs; me gusta(n), me encanta(n) –I like...-

3.B To keep your health/Para mantener la salud
Vocabulary: food; beverages; expressions to discuss health; expressions to discuss preferences, agreement, disagreement, and quantity; adjectives to describe food.
Grammar: The plural of adjectives; the verb ser –to be-

4.A Where are you going?/¿A dónde vas?
Vocabulary: leisure activities; places; expressions to tell where and with whom you go; expressions to talk about when things are done.
Grammar: the verb ir –to go-; interrogative words.

4.B Do you want to go with me?/¿Quieres ir conmigo?
Vocabulary: leisure activities; feelings; expressions for extending, accepting, and declining invitations; expressions to tell when something happens.

Grammar: ir + a + infinitive –to go+ infinitive-; the verb jugar –to play-
